Went in yesterday to find Amberlyn awake, alert and NO TUBE!!!

Posted on October 4, 2011 by Debbie

went in yesterday to find Amberlyn awake, alert and NO TUBE!!! The doctors came in at 10am and at 10:30am they took the tube out! She still could not talk cuz her poor throat hurt so bad from the tube. But she wrote that she was glad it was out. Also said that she was trying to swallow and was gagging and that was why the dr said to get it out now. Amberlyn said that one of the drs had to walk out cuz he got emotional watching her struggle. He is a good dr. We have been VERY blessed with our transplant drs.

Ok going to write a quick update before I leave for the hospital

Posted on October 3, 2011 by Debbie

Ok going to write a quick update before I leave for the hospital. Yesterday was a LONG day. I didn’t get back to the hotel til midnight and was just pure exhausted. They wanted to take the tube out yesterday but Amberlyn freaked out so the dr said to leave it in for now. She told the RT to work with Amberlyn during the day to get her maybe ready for her to take it out later. But the RT never worked with Amberlyn and it really pissed me off. The dr said that her x-rays still showed improvement, her kidneys are now showing that they are working better, and her pulmonary numbers on the vent are looking really good.

Ok….well not good news. Amberlyn had her bronch today and the dr came and told us that we will have to wait for results

Posted on October 2, 2011 by Debbie

I need to update you on Amberlyn on Sept. 30th the following happened..... Ok....well not good news. Amberlyn had her bronch today and the dr came and told us that we will have to wait for results from the cultures that he took. Said that he was thinking of maybe keeping her overnight for observation but wanted to see how she does with the anthesethia (not sure I spelt that right) He said that we aren't at "the end" yet and for us to stay strong and he left. Then maybe 10 minutes later he came back and said that she had a reaction to the bronch and her face, chest and arms were swelling. So they had to intubate her and she is now in ICU heavily sedated to keep her calm and asleep. =[ I am so thankful that my Mom came with us today. I seriously would have been a basket case without her here. I love you Mom! We were able to stay in the ICU room til 8pm.

Amberlyn wants me to let everyone know what is going on

Posted on September 29, 2011 by Debbie

Ok Amberlyn wants me to let everyone know what is going on. First and foremost please after you read this....PRAY....second please DO NOT call or text her, just leave her positive encouragement on fb or here. She is checking fb often now. This past tuesday her transplant apptment was not good. We knew something was up when Dr Angel came in and was somber. Normally he comes in smiling and says she looks great and gives her a hug. Tuesday he went straight to the point and you could see concern in his eyes.

So this morning ar 7:30am Amberlyn woke me up crying saying that her head felt like it was going to explode

Posted on September 10, 2011 by Debbie

So this morning ar 7:30am Amberlyn woke me up crying saying that her head felt like it was going to explode. I tried to calm her to see if maybe it was her having an anxiety attack but no it just got worse. You could just see the pain written all across her face. So we loaded up the car and headed to the ER. By the time we got there she was in so much pain that she could not keep her eyes open it hurt so bad. We got her in and the dr immediately put her on iv fluids and gave her some pain meds. He didn't do any lab work which sort of had me scratching my head in bewilderment. Something told me to check Amberlyn's sugar, and I did.....It was 60! Which is low for her. So I made her drink some Apple Juice.

Just a quick update. We got to finally come home!

Posted on September 10, 2011 by Debbie

Just a quick update. We got to finally come home! We didn't get home til 1am Thursday due to some complications with delivery guy that was suppose to bring us oxygen. Was so glad that the Apria Austin delivery guy Timothy was so more accommodating than the San Antonio delivery man. So God Bless you Timothy for easing my fears! Amberlyn did her first physical therapy with Jeremy at Kethley Physical Therapy. Jeremy you are another God send. Thank you for ALWAYS taking care of my Amberlyn. I know she is in good hands when you are involved.

Finally got results from last week’s bronch

Posted on September 1, 2011 by Debbie

Sorry not updating sooner, but it wasn't til yesterday that we finally got results from last week’s bronch. The culture grew out another bacteria, so Amberlyn is on yet another antibiotic. Her insulin level has been out of whack and it was a mystery, until last night when Amberlyn snapped that one of the IV antibiotics is mixed with D5 (sugar water, basically)! Amberlyn was able to get up and walk to the cafeteria last night while on oxygen. That is BIG progress!! She was so proud of herself. It was very tiring but she stuck it out. There is some talk, but no guarantee yet, of sending her home maybe this weekend or early next week on IV antibiotics. Understandably she is nervous about it but Dr. Angel said that they aren't just going to make her leave. He wants her to think about it. We are still taking it a day at a time. Keep those prayers coming! Love Mama Fett

Amberlyn has been up and around today

Amberlyn has been up and around today

Posted on August 25, 2011 by Debbie

As we await results of yesterday’s bronchoscopy (don’t expect to hear anything til MAYBE tomorrow), Amberlyn has been up and around today (after laying low due to the “sedation effect” yesterday.) She has already walked the halls, which is a BIG improvement. And she has chowed down on my chocolate birthday cake! There continue to be bumps on the road (potassium level is out of whack today), but the swelling she experienced last week is pretty much gone – we are thinking positive right now and praying for a positive outcome to all the tests! To keep her mind off the pain in her back she has started making Christimas ornaments. Everyone that comes in are amazed at the ornaments she has made. Thanks so much to everyone who is holding us up in prayer. God bless each and every one of you. Love Mama Fett

Amberlyn is not doing as well as we had hoped

Posted on August 22, 2011 by Debbie

Amberlyn is not doing as well as we had hoped. The pneumonia, which was better for a while, is now coming back and she has a lot of pain (in her back, at site where the pneumonia is located). New antibiotics have been ordered. They will do another biopsy on Wednesday to determine status of rejection. All your prayers are so important and we hope you will continue to pray that the pneumonia will be cured, her pain lessened and the signs of rejection DISAPPEAR! Love Mama Fett

Well dr came today. Its not what we wanted to hear.

Posted on August 16, 2011 by Debbie

Well dr came today. Its not what we wanted to hear. Amberlyn is showing signs of rejection. They are going to tank her up on steroids for three days which is what they first start doing for patients that start showing signs of rejection. I ask that everyone please just contact us by email, text or fb. We are trying to let this soak in and then get our boot straps on and hit this as hard as we can. Thank you for your understanding and please keep the prayers coming. ♥ ~Mama Fett~
