June 11, 2014 Jeremy’s “Paying It Forward”

Mabrie & Jeremy with toys for Amber’s Angels

Amber’s Angels received the sweetest email from the McMahan Family a few days ago.  Sue, the Mom, said that her son Jeremy was in at Dell Children’s Medical Center having neurosurgery when Amber’s Angels was there doing their Christmas Gift Bags delivery last December.  Jeremy awoke in his room to find a beautiful soft blanket and a GAMEBOY.  She said that the blanket is still his favorite to this day.  They were all touched by Amber’s Angels gift and wanted to find out more about us.  As they read Amberlyn’s story, they were even more touched because someone in their family has Cystic Fibrosis like Amberlyn.  After Jeremy got out of the hospital, they have been collecting NEW toys to help Amber’s Angels with their Christmas distribution for this year.  Jeremy recently turned 10 and asked his friends to donate to Amber’s Angels in lieu of gifts for him!

We met with this sweet family on June 11th to pick up the donation of toys they had.  Jeremy and his sister, Mabrie, were excited to give them to us.  As we were talking, Mabrie asked her Mom if she could do the same thing for her birthday…to ask her friends to donate toys to Amber’s Angels in lieu of gifts!  These two children get it, to make others smile or help them to have a better day.  It just brought tears to my eyes after we parted ways.  Made me think of sweet Amberlyn….she always said that “Paying It Forward” was the best feeling.

Thank you McMahan Family for your sweet donation and for helping us to keep Amberlyn’s dream and memory alive.  We could not do Amber’s Angels without wonderful people such as you!
