Horton Hears a Who Movie Night
Friday, Jan. 18th, Amber’s Angels had a movie night at Dell Children’s. We showed the movie “Horton Hears a Who”. I have to say that this is one of my favorite movies and it was one of Amberlyn Fett’s favorites as well. There was quite a good crowd that came to see the movie. It always touches my heart when we hear the families say that they are so appreciative of this chance to get out of the room and enjoy some free time. Amber’s Angels is always looking for ways to brighten the patients and their families time. We have been fortunate to have Domino’s Pizza help us with pizzas for all the patients and families that come to our movie nights. Amberlyn wanted to make it where it was like a dinner and movie. So we provide pizza, theater box candy, water and popcorn. Sometimes if we can find coloring books or toys that coincide with the movie we try to do that as well. It just so happens that Kohl’s has their Kohl’s Cares items that were a stuffed Horton Elephant and the book “Horton Hears a Who”. This program is a win win situation if you ask me. 100% of the sales goes to the local Children’s Hospital…which in our case is Dell Children’s Medical Center! So the money goes to Dell and then the items we bought go to the patients at Dell. Can you say “I love Kohl’s .” =)
There were so many patients that got excited when they received their treat bag. Inside each bag was a stuffed Horton, the book “Horton Hears a Who” and also the DVD “Horton Hears a Who”. I had one parent that got all teary eyed when we gave their child the bag. When you looked around you could see patients smiling and laughing at parts in the movie. Then after the movie, we actually had several patients come up to us and thank us for the movie and their bag. That my friend’s is why Amber’s Amber’s Angels does what it does….the smiles and laughter.
I would like to thank Eddie Jones, Amber Karley, Adina Miles, Grant K Norwood, Sara Bridges and Dusty Beisel for coming to help. Amberlyn was blessed to have all of you as her friends. I am blessed to have all of you help me to continue her life’s legacy and to keep her memory alive.
